SPAN ALASKA Fully Operational
Span Alaska’s service and operations remain uninterrupted throughout Alaska and Washington and are not impacted by the following local and state mandates:
• Emergency “Hunker Down” Order for the City of Anchorage
• Passenger Quarantine Order for Persons Returning to Alaska
• “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” Shelter-at-Home Order for Washington
Please be advised Alaska’s mandatory quarantine for all incoming passengers issued March 23 does not affect our operations. Span Alaska and the services that support our operations are considered critical “businesses that supply other essential businesses with the support or supplies necessary to operate” as stated by State of Alaska COVID-19 Mandate 010.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security guidance considers Span Alaska’s employees as “critical infrastructure workers.” As part of a federally designated “Critical Infrastructure Industry — Transportation,” we have a special responsibility to maintain normal work schedules to the best of our ability.
Span Alaska’s priority is the safety of our workforce, our customers, and the vital cargo entrusted to us for successful delivery throughout Alaska. To date, there have been no instances of COVID-19 with our employees. Our drivers are practicing enhanced hygiene techniques while on the road, and are trained to maintain appropriate physical distance from others during pickups and deliveries.
Matson, our ocean service provider (and parent company), continues to operate its northbound and southbound vessel schedules without interruption. These include the twice-weekly service between Tacoma and Anchorage.
Please Notify Us Immediately if Your Business is Impacted by the Anchorage “Hunker Down” Emergency Order
If the emergency order impacts your business and you are expecting a delivery from Span Alaska, please contact your Account Executive or our Customer Service department immediately. It is critical that we confirm the delivery time for your consigned cargo, as our operations must remain fluid to keep all cargo moving, especially emergency aid items.
Span Alaska services are vital to the state of Alaska. Thank you for the confidence you place in us.
