Barge Fuel Surcharge Change Notice

4th of July Holiday Notice [Posted – 06.18.2025]

June 18, 2025

Due to the upcoming 4th of July holiday falling on a Friday, and the subsequent ILWU recognized holiday that falls on July 5, Matson and Span Alaska will be implementing the following schedule changes.

Company Wide: All Span Alaska and Midnight Sun service centers will be closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Vessel Schedules: There will be no change to our midweek sailing from Tacoma. MKD312N will operate on its normal schedule on Wednesday, July 2.

Because July 4 falls on a Friday and the ILWU holiday is Saturday, July 5, the second sailing will be moved ahead one day. MTC304N will depart Tacoma on Thursday, July 3, and will call Anchorage on Monday, July 7, Kodiak on Wednesday, July 9, and Dutch Harbor on Friday, July 11.

To ensure a timely return to Tacoma for the early Thursday departure, MTC303N, departing Tacoma on Wednesday, June 25, will call Anchorage on Sunday, June 29, and bypass Kodiak on Monday, June 30. Northbound Kodiak shipments originating in Washington next week will move on MAC306N, departing Tacoma on Friday, June 27 and arrive in Kodiak on Wednesday, July 2. Intrastate shipments to Kodiak that would typically move on the Monday, June 30, sailing to Kodiak will be held in Anchorage for the Tuesday departure and will also arrive in Kodiak on Wednesday, July 2.

Auburn Service Center: To help ensure as much of your freight is able to sail the week of 4th of July, the Auburn Service Center is extending receiving hours on Thursday, July 3, to 1700, beyond the typical noon cutoff on sailing days.

Alaska Service Centers: Please contact your local service center if you will be closed on Thursday, July 3, so our operations teams can plan accordingly.

Should you have any questions, please contact Customer Service in Alaska at 907-349-3606 or in Auburn at 800-257-7726.

Please use www.spanalaska.com for the most current sailing information.

We appreciate your business and thank you for your continued support.
