Dear Span Alaska Customer
As a regular part of our Alaska service, Span provides specialized equipment (insulated containers) to protect your shipments from freezing. This year, the seasonal service will begin with the MKD321N sailing, departing Tacoma on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
If this service is needed to protect your goods, please make sure the inbound paperwork is clearly marked, indicating the need to protect from freezing, for example: “KFF,” or “KEEP FROM FREEZING.”
Some customers may wish to use KFF service before these dates for inland locations, such as Fairbanks, where lower temperatures may prevail. In those instances, inbound paperwork must be marked accordingly, and KFF surcharges will apply.
